"But...you promised."
Jacob grabbed his swimming gear and looked at Jesus impatiently.
"But I barely hang out with my friends, and You know that," he said, throwing his gear in to a little knapsack.
"I know, but...I thought it was just going to be you and I this evening, you know? I thought you were going to talk to Me and both of us could just...hang out," Jesus said.
"Maybe some other time," Jacob said hastily as he ran out the front door, dropping some of his swimming gear. Jesus grabbed it, sighed, and followed Jacob.

"This is going to be so much fun!" Sally giggled.
"Tell me about it. I've been looking forward to this all week!" Jacob smiled.
Jacob and his friends circled around the place, trying to find somewhere where they would be able to swim where it wasn't so crowded.
"Hey Jacob..." Peter said. "Look."
Jacob looked down and saw the deepest pool in the whole joint.
"Some say this is a haunted pool. Egotistical teenagers think that they can touch the bottom and then simply re-surface...it has never happened. One lady sat and waited for her boyfriend to re-surface, but he never did. Then, she drowned herself just to be with him for eternity."
"Have you any idea how stupid you just sounded, Peter?" Sally asked.
Peter laughed and then looked at the pool.
"Well, I'm going in, just to test the theory of this 'haunted pool'," Peter said as he climbed up the diving board. Jacob felt a presence behind him and he turned to see Jesus staring at Peter intently.
"What...what are You doing here?" Jacob whispered as he faced Jesus.
"Jacob, I don't want you going in this pool," Jesus said in a straight forward tone.
"Wha-why not?" he asked impatiently.
Jesus stared at Jacob, love and sterness filled His eyes.
"I don't want you going in there."
Jacob felt a small tremble in his heart, but he simply huffed and turned to look at Peter.
"Here I goooo!!!" Peter said as he jumped in to the pool. There was a loud splash and for three seconds, Peter did not re-surface.
"Peter?!" Sally cried out as she looked in to the pool.
Peter emerged making a monstrous noise. He grabbed Sally and dragged her in to the pool. Finally, both of them emerged and Sally slapped Peter with as much water as her hand could hold.
"You dick!!!" she screamed as she climbed out of the pool like a frightened cat.
Peter laughed hysterically and Jacob started chuckling softly, since that did actually scare him as well. Peter got out of the water and patted Jacob on the back with his wet hand.
"Alright buddy. Your turn," Peter smiled as he pointed at the diving board.
Jacob smiled and was about to go, but he felt Jesus' hand on his arm.
"No, Jacob." He said.
Jacob pushed Jesus away and said, "Look, nothing bad is going to happen, alright?!"
Jacob climbed the diving board, his eyes froze on the vast amount of water. He did not even bother to look at Jesus.
"Go, buddy! The water's fine!" Peter shouted.
Jacob closed his eyes and jumped. It seemed like an eternity until his body hit the water.
"WHOO!!! Alright!!!" Peter shouted.
Jacob smiled...then, a major pain went through his entire body. It was like he was paralyzed; he couldn't move at all.
"H-help!!!" he shouted, trying to kick his legs which only worsened the intense pain.
"Yeah, very funny, Jacob! Come on, my baby brother can put up a better performance than you!" Sally giggled.
'They think it's a joke...they think this is a joke!!!" Jacob thought.
He felt as if somebody was pushing his head down in to the water. He couldn't breathe and he knew that it was the end.
Then, he felt strong arms around his stomach. He thought it was the arms of the ghosts that haunted the pool and he accepted his fate. But when he felt that his entire body was being lifted from the pool, he opened his eyes in bewilderment. He started sputtering like a maniac and coughed up the water.
"Be still, be still..." a calm voice said gently, wiping Jacob's face.
Once Jacob wiped the silky cloth off his face, he saw Jesus tenderly staring at him.
"Jesus...oh, Jesus..." Jacob muttered as he embraced Him.
Jesus put His hand on the back of Jacob's head and stroked it gently.
"Wait...where are Peter and Sally?" he asked.
"They've gone to eat lunch...they figured that you were just playing, so they left," Jesus said as he continued drying off Jacob with His silky cloth.
"...Jesus?"
"Hmm?"
"...Thanks..."
Jesus smiled and kissed Jacob's forehead.
"You're welcome."
...
"Jesus?"
"Hmm?"
"...Am I going to be punished for disobeying You?"
"Of course."
Jacob laughed a little and touched Jesus' hand.
"Do You...do You still want to hang out?"
Jesus smiled and placed His other hand on top of Jacob's.
"I wouldn't miss it for anything."
He will never abandon you, even when you're as stubborn as a mule. Or some animal similar...you know what I mean.

This reminds me of something that happened to me. If you don't mind I'm going to write out my story ^.^
One day I had come home late about 9 from a friends house and when i got out the train I called my house but I felt my dad was taking to long so I started walking home. The moment I started walking I heard a voice inside that said "no call your house again." I didn't obey, I didn't recognize it as the voice of my Lord at the time, I just thought it was "my gut" and I said "no i'll be fine." The voice told me time and again, "call the house" and He even addressed me directly, "Calixta, call your dad again." But I said "I'm gonna be okay, God's got my back" Little did I know that was God himself trying to get me to call my house. I got mugged that night, a gun was pointed at me and i got some money taken and my phone. At that time I wasn't in church, but having grown up in church I believed in God completely, and just a few months earlier at my baby cousins funeral I accepted Jesus as my Savior. I admit now in ever situation that I feel weird about I quiet down and try to listen for his direction. I love my God and my Lord and am so grateful day in and out for his patience and everlasting Love.
