"Good night, babe..."
"Night, hon..." Jessica whispered with a smile as she kissed her boyfriend goodbye.
It was three in the morning. She was grounded, but she just had to see him, her lover. Even if it meant breaking her bedroom window after her parents had locked it because of her excessive sneaking out. She didn't care. She knew that rebellion was all a part of teenage life, and she was ready and willing to live it out.
She turned the doorknob of the front door of her house and smiled when she discovered that it was open. She saw no lights on; perfect.
She quickly entered and locked the door as quietly as she could. She then turned quickly and looked around.
Nobody in the foyer.
She jogged to the stairs and slowly and surely climbed up. Her mom would always know whenever somebody climbed up the stairs, but not tonight.
"Huh...she must be exhausted..." Jessica mumbled as she reached the top of the stairs.
She turned to her right and reached her bedroom door. She sighed a sigh of relief; she had made it without getting caught.
She turned the doorknob to her room and entered. She closed it softly and when she turned to undress...she saw Jesus standing by the window, the pale moonlight hitting Him.
"Wha! How did You!" she whispered harshly.
"Hello, Jessica." He said in a way that He knew exactly what she had done but He was just waiting to throw it in her face.
She stood in awe in her red tank top and worn out jeans, her expression...absolutely priceless.
"Where have you been?" He asked in a 'as a matter of fact' tone of voice.
His hands were patiently folded, His face was perfectly stern.
"Uh...out..." she mumbled as she got out of her jeans.
"Out? Out where?"
She felt her face burning. She could lie to her mother and father, but not to Jesus. Really; He's Jesus.
"None of Your business." she said quickly.
"Oh?"
She slipped in to her silky pajama shorts and felt paralyzed. She wanted to jump in to bed and hide under her covers, just pretend that He wasn't there anymore. She had done it before, and it worked.
"Y-yeah. It isn't."
He walked closer to her and she felt even more paralyzed.
"And how is it not?" He asked.
She wanted to move. To gulp, to flex her fingers, to breathe. His Presence was just too overwhelming.
"Be-Because! Alright?! I'm not some little girl that You can boss around anymore!!!"
She felt like fainting because her knees were locked. She stumbled to her bed and covered herself completely.
"Don't hide from Me, Jessica Diana."
She felt her body shaking. She couldn't breathe under her covers; she found it somehow incredibly difficult. She lifted her head and took a breath.
"Jessica, you need to realize this; You are Mine. You've always been Mine. And you've always been My little baby."
She wanted to cry. But her boyfriend told her that tears were a weakness; a sign that you are not worthy of survival. She gulped her tears down and shouted, "I'M NOT YOUR BABY ANYMORE!!!"
She became started by her own shouting voice. She was even more startled when her parents didn't barge in to her room, her dad with his shotgun and her mom with her mace.
But she felt His eyes on her. She felt the pain, the indescribable pain, that went through His entire body, especially His Heart. She yearned to jump in to His arms and express her sorrow, her heart-wrenching sorrow, but she felt paralyzed...again.
She slowly covered her face with her bed sheets and listened as His footsteps went towards her window. She peaked and watched Him looking at the sky, His face so beautiful under the moon light, yet so broken...
She curled up and waited for Him to leave. Instead, she heard His footsteps coming towards her, and she felt His shadow fall over her. He sat on her bed and she curled up even more.
"I love you. I've always loved you."
She felt her wavy auburn hair being stroked gently. She tried to reach over to touch Him, to express how sorry she was in a small way. But He lifted her up by the sides of her stomach...just like a father would pick up his little baby girl... and He looked deeply in to her eyes.
"No matter what you do, or how you think. You will ALWAYS be My baby. Even when you are old and wrinkled, you are still My precious baby."
She pushed everything away in her mind and in her heart; her boyfriend, her sins, everything. All there was room for was Jesus.
Her eyes clouded over and He smiled as He wiped her tears.
Then, He held her...just like a father would hold his little baby girl.
You are always going to be His baby, no matter what you do, what you say, or how you think.
